7 March 2022, Dubai, United Arab Emirates:

Forensic Risk Alliance (FRA), a forensic accounting, data analytics and eDiscovery consultancy specialising in international and complex investigations, compliance and disputes, is pleased to announce that Stephen Millington, former Partner and head of Middle East forensic practices, has been appointed Partner in the firm’s expanding Middle East and Africa (MEA) office in Dubai.

Stephen’s appointment will strengthen the firm’s forensic accounting expertise in the Middle East, notably in financial investigations and disputes involving anti-money laundering (AML), anti-bribery & corruption, sanctions and compliance.

Stephen has nearly 25 years of professional services experience, and for 15 years he was based in the Middle East, where he established and grew forensic practices for multinational firms Kroll and Alvarez & Marsal. Prior to FRA, Stephen was Partner at KordaMentha, where he led the Melbourne forensic practice. Over the course of his career, he has become an expert in leading complex investigations into a wide range of white-collar financial crime issues for many different clients.

Stephen’s strong financial services background will also help solidify FRA’s presence in the Dubai market, where the company established roots in January. Dubai is one of the world’s leading financial centres and a hub for the Middle East, where FRA has a track record of being engaged on several high profile cases over the past 20+ years. FRA is committed to investing in the region, bringing to bear strong global experts – including native Arabic speakers – in a landscape of increasingly complex and coordinated regulation.

Commenting on his appointment, Stephen Millington, Partner at Forensic Risk Alliance, said: “I’m thrilled to join FRA’s Dubai office, and have the opportunity to play a leading part in cementing FRA’s presence in the region. Over fifteen years of working in the Middle East, I’ve seen first-hand the huge demand for anti-money laundering (AML) and investigative services, and I look forward to supporting the team in meeting that demand and establishing ourselves as the go-to firm in the region.”

Stuart Ells, CEO at Forensic Risk Alliance, said: “We are delighted to welcome Stephen to our Dubai office, which serves as a key servicing hub for high-value litigation, financial crime investigations and forensic work across the Middle East. This market is of great strategic value to the international growth of FRA as we expand our core service offerings and develop new opportunities to support our broad portfolio of international investigatory work.”

Bhavin Shah, FRA Partner and Head of MEA, said “I am thrilled to welcome Stephen and continue FRA’s expansion in the Middle East with someone of his calibre and first-hand regional experience. His forensic accounting expertise on key matters for companies operating in this market will be a great strength for our Dubai office.”
