  • Fully automated 24/7 service offers better reach and enhanced experience for Dubai Police customers
  • The move digitises monthly manual transactions

Dubai, UAE, 27 June 2021: Emirates NBD, a leading banking group in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey (MENAT) region, has enabled remote cash deposits for Dubai Police customers.

The fully automated service allows Dubai Police customers to deposit money without any time constraints and with immediate credit to Dubai Police via the bank’s extensive network of more than 300 Cash Deposit Machines (CDMs), available for customers 24/7. The service aims to digitise the monthly manual transactions conducted by Dubai Police customers through Emirates NBD branches.

In addition to offering an enhanced customer experience, the digital platform also helps in ensuring the safety of Emirates NBD staff, customers, and the community, by limiting the number of visits to physical branches as part of precautionary measures during the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

Commenting on the new service, Ahmed Al Qassim, Senior Executive Vice President and Group Head, Corporate & Institutional Banking, Emirates NBD, said, “As a front-runner in digital banking innovation, Emirates NBD continues to introduce services which not just support the cash management needs of our clients but also simplify the experience of their customers. Innovation becomes meaningful when it enhances our clients’ experience – enabling remote cash deposits for Dubai Police customers helps us support Dubai Police’s strategy of promoting innovation and creativity while aiming for community happiness.”

He added: “We are confident that this new offering will bring greater ease of use and convenience to Dubai Police customers and look forward to continuing to work with government and private sector partners across the country to contribute towards the digitisation of banking and payment processes in the UAE.”

Brigadier Ali Al Shamali, Director of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Institutions at Dubai Police, said: “Dubai Police General Command is committed to providing our customers with high-quality services that respond to their needs. We have undertaken several initiatives in this regard, including enabling remote cash deposits for prison inmates, in cooperation with Emirates NBD. This particular initiative is aligned to the government’s safety and precautionary measures to limit the spread of Covid-19. In addition, we aim to continue to support the government’s mission to digitalize services which further ensures the safety and protection of our society.”

He added, “Inmates’ families can pay a visit to any of Emirates NBD’s branches in the UAE to deposit funds in the penal institution’s account stating the inmate’s name and number. The penal institution then delivers the money to the inmates’ personal accounts, allowing inmates to make purchases at the smart supermarket in the penal institution.”

An early mover in banking and payments innovation, Emirates NBD’s robust digital infrastructure has enabled it to support private and public sector clients with digital banking innovation.
